Our Story

Our philosophy is to engage our residents in daily experiences that foster joy and well being, honoring their individuality and care needs.

Chloe McKinney, Executive Director

"I joined Avana on Day 1, and I am so proud of the wonderful home we have created for our residents.  I am committed to providing a home where our residents, their families, and our employees are held in high regard, and expectations to exceed standards are met consistently.”

As executive director of Avana, Chloe oversees all day-to-day operations of our homes, including managing our professional staff of experienced caregivers while making sure operations run smoothly, surpassing all industry standards.  Her role encompasses nurturing our people and culture, extending outreach to our community and, ultimately, ensuring you and your family receive the best possible care with Avana.

Prior to joining Avana, Chloe had years of caregiving experience in various settings, including Traumatic Brain Injuries, home health elder care, and resident health services.  Chloe was our first employee hired back in 2019, and her love and care of our residents has been exceptional.

Jim Robinson, Owner

"My father lived with Alzheimers for many years.  We were fortunate to have placed him in a wonderful memory-care setting in Illinois where our family learned the value of dedicated staff and professional management.  My focus with Avana is to offer that same peace of mind to our residents and their families."

Jim earned his MBA from ASU's WP Carey School of Business in 2001. His

extensive business and management background prepared him for his role in developing Avana. As an executive at Intel Corporation in Chandler, AZ, Jim served as general manager of a multi-billion dollar business unit, managing hundreds of employees. Jim left Intel in 2016 to pursue his entrepreneurial passion of integrating highly personalized care in an engaging, home-like setting.

Diana Bool, Life Enrichment Director

"In my career in social work, I have often seen neighbors and family members of residents enjoy participating in some of the same group activities presented by residential assisted-living homes. Those interactions and friendships between people are what community is all about."

Diana received her Master of Social Work degree at ASU in 2002 and has been a dedicated hospice social worker for the past 15 years. Diana understands the emotional trauma involved in caring for and managing the needs of a loved one. After Diana’s mother had suffered a debilitating stroke resulting in the need for total care, Diana and her family had to make many difficult decisions. It was this experience that led Diana to become a medical social worker where her compassion and understanding are powerful attributes that help countless families and patients with their personal journeys. Diana’s expertise in creating care plans that address and meet emotional and social needs, family and patient counseling, crisis intervention, and sourcing appropriate group home options for her patients is met equally by her desire to provide meaningful life experiences for patients at all functioning levels. Her tenure as a mentor to new medical social workers has proven to be pivotal in the design and management of Avana’s Life Enrichment program.
